Dr Anne Squire: Partner
MB ChB LFHom MRCGP

Training Profile:

Dr Anne Squire graduated with Honours from Leicester University Medical School in 1983. She undertook GP training in both the UK and the USA, working in the Midlands and at the University of Columbia. She was Chief Resident in her final year of American training, a post which had both teaching and administrative responsibilities. Dr Squire returned to the UK and completed her British GP training in Norwich where she worked as a full time NHS GP for five years. Shen moved to an NHS GP Practice in Chelmsford and was the Postgraduate GP tutor for mid Essex. Dr Squire also served as the Chair of the Essex Faculty of the Royal College of General Practitioners. After a 14 year spell as a NHS GP Anne established a private general practice in Chelmsford with partner Dr Sibel Peck and more recently partner Dr Judith Pluck. Her practice is supported by a BA in English and a Postgraduate Diploma in Health and the Arts.

Special interests:

Dr Squire is interested in offering patient centred, unhurried and effective family medicine and has a strong interest in communicating effectively with patients. With four children of her own, she is very aware of the particular health needs of women, especially those for whom work and family life exist in a degree of tension. In offering well woman screening services she aims to provide a tailored service to meet the needs of each woman as an individual, with empathy and understanding.

Dr Squire is a minister within the Church of England; she is pleased to offer prayer within any consultation if requested.

Dr Sibel Peck: Partner
MBBS MRCGP DRCOG DCH

Training Profile:

Dr Sibel B Peck trained at St Bartholomew's Medical School, University of London and graduated in 1988. Her medical training began in Redhill, Surrey, where she worked in Casualty, Care of the elderly, Psychiatry, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She then moved to Northampton General Hospital and worked in Paediatrics. She undertook GP training in Surrey, Leicestershire and New Zealand. Membership was gained to the Royal College of General Practitioners in 1993. After returning from New Zealand in 1994, Dr Peck worked as a GP in London. She also worked for the British Pregnancy Advisory Service and gained an insight into the stresses attached to unwanted pregnancies.

ln Chelmsford she continued to work as a GP, gaining further clinical experience. ln 2001 Dr Peck established the Private GP services practice with partners Dr Anne Squire and more recently Dr Judith Pluck.

Special Interests:

Dr Peck has a special interest in Acupuncture and is interested in offering patient-centred family medicine. As a mother with three children, she appreciates the pressures on working mothers and the importance of their health needs. She is interested in all aspects of child health. Her primary goal is to practice medicine that allows the patient time to get their concerns across, and leave the consultation feeling that they have been listened to with their health needs met.

Being from Turkish parents, Dr Peck is fluent in Turkish and is happy to consult in this language.

Dr Judith Pluck: Partner
MBBS B.Pharm(hons). MRCGP

Training Profile:

Dr Judith Pluck graduated in pharmacy in 1979. After working as a pharmacist for three years in hospitals, community pharmacies, and in the Research industry, she went on to graduate with Honours in medicine from St Georges Medical School in London 1987.
After qualifying as a doctor she worked for a year in New Zealand. On returning to the UK, began training as a GP at St Johns Hospital, Chelmsford. During her General Practice training Dr Pluck developed a strong interest in Palliative Care Medicine and spent three years as a Clinical Assistant at Farleigh Hospice.

She resumed her training as a GP in NHS General Practice and after a 10 years spell as a NHS GP Partner, Judith joined the private general practice in January 2006.

Special interests:

Dr Pluck has a strong interest in medicine management and the complex drug regimes required in patients with multiple medical problems. She also has an interest in immunisation and travel medicine.

Dr Pluck is married with two children. She feels that Family Medicine and General Practice should be individually centred on the needs of the patient and not constrained by unavailability of appointments. Dr Pluck feels should be ease of access with the opportunity to develop a continuing relationship with one doctor.

Dr Jo Josson McConnell: Partner
MBBS MRCGP DFSRH MPH

Training Profile:

Dr Jo Josson McConnell graduated with Honours from St George's Hospital Medical School, University of London in 2003. Post-graduation medical and surgical training was in London and Chichester. She subsequently worked in paediatric and adult emergency medicine and obstetrics and gynaecology in Sydney, Australia. In 2006 she returned to train as a GP and completed this at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead, London. She gained accreditation as a sexual health doctor during her training as well as took up roles on the Royal College of General Practitioners' Trainee Committee. After graduation she worked as an NHS GP in Colchester. She also has a Masters from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Special interests:

Jo is comfortable consulting on all aspects of patients' health. She has an interest in mental health, antenatal care/gynaecology, sexual health and musculoskeletal problems. She feels she can offer a personalised service to her patients which combines her listening skills and warm manner with the latest evidence and medical research.

Dr Josson McConnell is married, lives locally and has two children. She joined the partners Dr Squire, Dr Peck and Dr Pluck at Private GP Services in 2011.

Dr Justin Barkham:
MBBS DRCOG

Training Profile:

Dr Barkham graduated from St Thomas Hospital Medical School in London in 1988. He started his postgraduate training in Medicine at Worthing Hospital before surgical training at Colchester Hospital. He then undertook General Practice training in the Colchester group of hospitals. This consisted of A&E, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Care of the Elderly.

After working as GP registrar in Colchester he went on to become a full time partner within an NHS Surgery where he worked for 22 years.

Dr Barkham believes in continuity of care and the importance of establishing a trusting relationship with patients.

Special interests:


Coming from a two partner practice has given Dr Barkham experience in the full range of personal General Practice services. This includes obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, general medicine, dermatology and men's health. He is married with two children and lives locally. Dr Barkham joined Private GP Services in the spring of 2014.
