Cervical Cancer Vaccine at Private GP Services

Introducing Gardasil 9

New Gardasil 9 offer protection from the group of viruses which cause over 90 % of all cases of cervical cancer, anal cancer and genital warts. The vaccine is also licensed for use in boys AND girls over the age of 9 to aged 26.

At Private GP Services we offer the latest HPV vaccination to patients. Gardasil 9 is not currently available in the NHS. The new Gardasil 9 vaccine provides immunity to 9 subtypes of HPV. (The previous 4 valent version provided coverage against subtypes 6,11, 16, 18).

Gardasil 9 HPV 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52 and 58 (high risk) which cause cervical cancer and HPV related anal cancer and HPV subtypes (6 and 11 ) which cause genital wart cases.

A course of 2 or 3 vaccines over 6 months can be given to boys and girls over the age of 9 as well as adults.

There is sound research evidence to confirm that the vaccine is most effective when given to younger people, and it should be given before the onset of sexual activity if at all possible. As Gardasil 9 is available to both young women and men, it is a worthwhile vaccine in many circumstances and at different ages. Please ask if it is appropriate for your own situation.

Vaccination regime for Gardasil 9

Boys and girls aged 9-14 years: Two doses of Gardasil 9 over 6 months

Boys/men and girls/women aged 15 - 26: Three doses of Gardasil 9 over 6 months

This can be paid at the beginning of the course, patients can also opt to pay for each vaccine as it is given (£160).

Sonifi have ceased production of gardasil 4 but patients who have started a course of Gardasil 4 with us will have their course completed. Gardasil 4 and Gardasil 9 are not interchangeable.

Although this vaccine offers excellent protection, it remains important for adult
women to have smear tests. At Private GP Services we offer liquid based smear tests with results within a week.
